OUR CURRICULUM
Our curriculum aims to equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to explore and understand the world around them.

We believe that children grow and develop when they have access to a well-thought-out learning environment and engaged adults.

Our aim is to deliver teaching and learning through engaging play, partnering with children in both adult-led and child-led activities, indoors and outdoors. This approach fosters independence and prepares children for school as they progress through the nursery.

We place great importance on understanding each child’s past experiences to build upon them effectively. By creating engaging invitations to play, we encourage children to make their own choices, fostering independence and developing problem-solving skills.

ASSESSMENT
We use the online learning journal, Tapestry, to track each child’s progress and development.

Our assessments link children’s learning to our curriculum, with a strong focus on formative assessments that allow us to make immediate, impactful changes to support their learning journey. We also conduct broader progress reviews to identify areas where additional support may be needed.
​
By carefully observing what children can and cannot do, we skillfully determine when to step in and offer guidance or when to encourage them to explore independently. Working closely with our in-house SENCO, we ensure children are confident and secure in their knowledge and skills before introducing new challenges.

We complete:

A baseline assessment of the child’s development 6 weeks after they start with us. This is completed in partnership with parents

We conduct termly assessments to evaluate each child’s development against typical milestones and the characteristics of effective learning. These assessments include insights into the child’s interests and any relevant observations about their experiences with us, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their progress and individual needs.
